Attempted to copy a phone number from an e-mail, and paste into my contact
listing. This action failed. By right clicking in the area to insert a
phone number, it would not allow an action to take place. How can I copy &
paste to my contacts?

Highlight it and drag to the destination spot. Use 2 panes.
