How do you name ranges in excel to allow exporting to outlook?

I am trying to import a Excel file to Outlook Contacts and getting the
response; "No Named Ranges.  Go to Excel and name the range of data you want
to import."  

How does one do this in an existing file?

Open Excel, click Help, and look for "named range".  How hard is that?
