I accidentally reset all my customizing back to default.  Now, when I create
an email, it doesn't find the contact names (only some).  When I look at the
actual contact data it shows the email and the display, so I type that in the
TO and it still doesn't find it.

When I'm in CHECK NAMES or SELECT NAMES it doesn't show a list of my
contacts, like it used to.

If you click To, do you see your Contacts under Outlook Address Book.

What do you see in Tools | Address Book, then Tools | Options for the lists used to resolve names?

If I click TO it doesn't show any list of names.  It shows in the SELECT
NAMES window SHOW NAMES FROM THE Contacts, but nothing is listed in the box.

If I start to type a partial name and then select CHECK NAMES is says No
Suggestions.

When I accidentally did a DETECT AND REPAIR (in OneNote) that is when all my
customizations were deleted and all the defaults came back for all Office
products.  I had to create a new PROFILE and then re-direct it to my old .pst
file and delete the new one.  Could this have caused something, and can we
fix it?

When you created a new profile, did you add the Outlook Address Book as one of the address lists? Also, on the Properties dialog for your Contacts folder, make sure you have the Outlook Address Box checked.

And, still looking for an answer on this question: What do you see in Tools | Address Book, then Tools | Options for the lists used to resolve names?

I don't know what you mean 'add the Outlook Address Book as one of the
addresss lists'?  When I do TO there are TWO options under SHOW NAMES FROM
THE (Contacts and Outlook Address Book (which has nothing in it)).

When I do TOOLS/ADDRESS BOOK, TOOLS/OPTIONS under the 3 fields Contacts is
the answer for all 3.

What is the Properties dialog for the Contacts folder?

You've a damaged mail profile.  Click Tools>E-mail Accounts>View or change
existing directories or address books>Next.  Do you see "Outlook Address
Book"?  If so, select it and choose Change.  What do you see there?

> What is the Properties dialog for the Contacts folder?

Right-click Contacts and choose Properties.  Examine the Outlook Address
Book tab.

When I choose Contacts under SHOW NAMES FROM THE nothing shows in the box.

When I select Change under editing email accounts I see CONTACTS:  PERSONAL
FOLDERS.

The previous person asked about a Properties dialog and I didn't know how
find out that info...

The wizard is pretty self-explanatory if you take the time to read the options. Step by step.

Click the Tools menu
Click E-mail Accounts command.
Select "view or change existing directories or address books."
Click Next.

Do you see Outlook Address Book in the list of address lists? Apparently, you will, because of your other answers. And it appears to have a problem. Therefore, you need to remove it and then add it back in.

Select Outlook Address Book.
Click Remove. Click Yes when prompted.
Restart Outlook.

Click the Tools menu
Click E-mail Accounts command.
Select "Add a new directory or address book"
Click Next.
Select "additional address books"
Click Next
Select Outlook Address Book
Click Next
Restart Outlook

> What is the Properties dialog for the Contacts folder?

It is the dialog that you see when you right-click the Contacts folder and choose Properties from the context menu.
