In Outlook 2002 I had 971 contacts, including a few distribution lists.
After getting a new machine with 2003 version (w/sp2) and viewing my contacts
164 are missing, including 1 distribution list.

I have spent hours trying to read knowledge bases with no luck.  Can someone
please help?

How could we?
You provided no information.
What information store are you using and how did you migrate your Outlook
data to a new installation?

I wasn't sure what you needed to know.  I'm not sure what an information
store is but, as far as I know my profile was carried over from the exchange
server.  What other information could I provide that might be helpful?

So that means your information store is an Exchange mailbox and this is
probably not an Outlook issue. Then the question becomes who upgraded your
Outlook version and what did your Exchange administrator say when you asked
him or her about the problem?

It is a new machine, so I guess it's not really an upgrade.  Our IT admin is
not really an outlook user, so I'm pretty much on my own.  We have another
seperate machine that had Outlook 2002 and then upgrated (same machine, quite
a while ago) to 2003 and she didn't have these issues.  She can still see the
missing contacts so my data seems to be intact, just not viewable from this
machine.  I still feel like it's an outlook issue, but if you still don't can
you point me to another direction?

Help me understand. You run against Exchange, and yet your Exchange
administrator is not really an Outlook user? You are permitted to upgrade
your client software on your own with no support?
Who is minding your shop? Are you posting accurate information?

No jerk, I made the whole thing up and spent hours researching information so
I could waste more time reading your smart a.s answers.  Yes, my info is
accurate. Too bad you don't use your brains to help people find answers
instead of passing judgement on them.

No. Your information is not accurate or complete. None of this would happen
if you were running only against an Exchange mailbox. You must have been
using some other information store or configuration which you have not
correctly posted. No one can help without accurate information, so I will
not trouble you further, and you do the same.

OK.  I have a question, then.  In addition to the Exchange mailbox, were you
using a Personal Folders File and did you keep some of your contacts in a
Contacts folder in that file, separate from the Contacts folder in the
mailbox?

Hmmmm.  I'm not familiar with what the exchange mailbox contains, but I did
use a pst file for my data.  It is a shared contact folder and another user
that upgraded her Outlook 2002 to 2003 can still see the info, so it doesn't
seem to be corrupt.  I did try to import my .pst data so that it will be
unicode compliant, but didn't seem to see any difference.  Does that give you
any more ideas?

So the data you can't see (but another can) is in a shared folder.  Is this
folder in a shared mailbox or is it a public folder?  What view are you
using when you attempt to view the data?
