MS Office Forum / Outlook / Contacts / July 2006Distribution List
Hi I have a client with a clean install of XP and Office including Ootlook 2003. I have tried to make distribution lists on her system and it save the list to her contacts folder. Which seemsto be ok and it has the triple head icon but when you right click "To send new message" it seems to put the name of list into the TO: field but there is no plus sign to indicate more than one address is being used. If you try to send a message Outlook does not see it as a list of address but as a piece of text . Any sugestions?. would removing Outlook and reinstalling it cause more problems than it solves State in detail what you are doing. We can't tell what you are doing wrong. Select "New Distribution List" I select members" and add them from our "GAL" . We use Exchange. I then name the list ie "Test" . Then I save and close . It seems to save it to her Contact folder as when I open "Contacts" it is there with the "Group" icon. I right click and select "Send new message" then as I said before it puts the name of the list in the "TO" field (No + )and when you try to send it cannot see it as an address but as text. This is the procedure I use elswhere and it works but somehow not on this machine. Outlook creates DL's using Contacts Folders. Ideally, you be in the main Outlook window. I tried duplicating your steps, though, and can't reproduce the problem. I have tried adding them from the GAL and as they were new contacts ie. entering the names and email address manualy always the same result. Outlook doesn't seem to have any other problems..
