When I go to the Contacts properties and try to designate Contacts as an
Address Book the box and folder name are listed on the tab but they are
grayed out and I can't make any changes.

I am using Outlook 2003 and Microsoft Exchange Server

Any idea on how I can rectify this?

need to do another step first - Tools | Options | Mail Setup | add a new
address book.  The restart Outlook (it will tell you to) then go check that
box on the tab you mentioned!
