journal entry

In previous version of Office while I'm viewing a contact, I could click on
tools and enter a journal entry for the contact I'm viewing and that journal
entry is automatically associated with that contact.  Can I still do this
just as easily.

Yes, that's possible in all versions. And if you explain what version you're using, someone might even be able to tell you how.
