Trying to export from excel to Contacts.

Finally managed to name range but could not import from .xls file, I did
export from excel into .csv then imported into contacts from .csv O.K.

Should I have been able to import direct from an .xls file?

I think the error message was file type not supported.

Is it possible to map to the "file as" field in the standard contacts form?
as I would like the records listed in alphabetical order of company rather
than contact name and don't want to go through each record changing them by
hand.

Yes. Perhaps the range wasn't correct.

No.
