I am familiar with Import/Export, but cannot find where Outlook "hides"
(what folder) all its messages.

in the contacts folder? the import contacts function in OE should select the
correct folder. if not, save as a CSV from outlook.

You have several choices. You can create a Personal Address Book in
Outlook, copy your Contacts to it, and then import them with Outlook
Express's FIle>Import>Other Address Book. You can also use Outlook's
FIle>Import and Export>Export to a file, and choose the comma-separated
values (Windows) selection. Import that into OE with the same menu as
above.
