Suddenly, when I enter a new contact in my Outlook Address Book (Microsoft
Outlook version 2002) the field for Full Name reverses lastname and firstname
although I enter these in firstname, lastname order.   This means that when
entering addresses in my email some of the list comes up by lastname although
most is by firstname.   I must have changed something, but don't know what.
Please help !

Since the Address Book contains no data, you should never enter anything
from the Address Book.  Your contacts are in the Contacts folders and that
where you should add them.

Sorry - the word Address Book is obviously misleading, so ignore it - I am
referring to Contacts.  Should do a Detect and Repair perhaps ?

No. Just reset the order for the Full Name... field correctly: Tools >
Options > Preferences > Contact Options...

Thank you.  This has solved most of my problem, as the name fields are now
working as they should.   However, when sending an email if I click on the To
box and enter the person's firstname I find that the few I recently added are
still listed by lastname.   Is there a way to reverse this ?

So now you are trying to sort the Outlook Address Book?
Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book > Change… > Set your sort order there

The penny dropped... I complicated something that should have been very
simple to fix !   In the 'file as' box - I deleted the lastname, firstname I
had typed in myself, selected the 'lastname, firsname' that then came up
automatically and all the name entries are in the same order again.  I had to
do this for each entry separately, so was very glad the problem has not been
going on for too many weeks !

Thanks for your solution :)
