When I add sender to my contacts by right clicking on email address, it posts to a secondary contacts list, not my primary contacts. How do I get it to point to the correct contact data base. I posted this message previously but could not find it so apologize for reposting. Please explain where these "primary" and "secondary" contacts lists are located in your Outlook folder hierarchy. The first folder is the primary use folder called 'contacts with categories' which I just added to Outlook and will use as my main contact list. I changed all settings so this appears first and if I send a message and click on the To button, it is indeed this folder that appears. The second one listed is the old contacts folder named contacts to which the contact gets added if I right click on the sender. This is the problem I am trying to resolve. The third and fourth folder are named contacts and are empty. The fifth is labeled business contacts and is empty. Instead of clicking Save and Close after the new contact comes up, click File | Move to Folder and choose your Contacts with Categories folder. If that gets tiresome, go back to using Contacts as your main contacts folder. The folders residing in the outlook section entitled contacts are "contacts with categories" (my primary contact list just added and which does work when I click on the To button to write a message), "contacts" (the previous contacts folder that unfortunately get posted to when I right click on sender and want to save email address), and four other empty contact folders that I don't use. > When I add sender to my contacts by right clicking on email address, it posts > to a secondary contacts list, not my primary contacts. Problem resolved by deleting contacts in original Contacts Folder and then moving desired contacts with categories into that folder, then deleting Contacts with Categories. So now there is only one contacts folder which is linked into email. Adding a new contact that way will always add it to the Contacts folder in your delivery location (i.e., the folder set holding the Inbox where your messages arrive). You can switch your delivery location to another PST so that all your default folders are in that other PST but you can't pick and choose default folders between PSTs. Exactly how to change your delivery location is version-specific. You can consult the Microsoft Knowledgebase for your particular version of Outlook. Drag the items from the original Contacts folder there. Drag the items from the Contacts with Categories folder into Contacts.
