I want to import contacts from an Excel File, Outlook help indicates I should
be able to select "import and export" as an option from the File pull down
menu - but I have no such option in my pull down....help!

Look on the main Outlook menu, not the menu in the address book.

Have you used the View | TOolbars | Customize dialog to reset the menus?

Got it - openned "tools", then "Customize" selected "Commands" tab, and in
the File category found "Import and Export" and selected. Don't know why this
wasn't in the first place. But this worked. I then imported a contact files
quite easily.

You go!  I had the same trouble -- got all the same unhelpful advice, and
your post allowed me to fix the problem.  Many thanks.
