Look Up in Mail not Finding Contacts

I've just starting using Outlook 2003 on an Exchange Server.
When in Mail if I click on To to look up an email address it doesn't
find the contacts in my Contacts folder.
The Contacts folder seems OK, all my data is there, and it is checked
to be in the Outlook Address book and to show as an email address book.

Any suggestions to get this working would be greatly appreciated.

right click the Contacts folder | Properties | Outlook address Book | tick
the box to make it show as an address book.

If that doesn't work (the box may be greyed out) you need to configure an
address book first. Come back if you need help with that.

Hi Judy,
The box is checked to show my contacts as an email address book. When I
try a look up it does show my contacts with email addresses BUT no
names or display names are shown so the look up doesn't work. The names
are shown in Contacts view.
Thanks for your help.

What I call the Lookup window is on the Standard Toolbar and says " type a
contact to Find"
It should open the Contact.  Type a name, Enter and there you are!

Hi Judy,
I'm talking about the look up in email. When you click on the "To".
This is what does not function and neither does Outlook do an automatic
lookup of my email addresses when I start to type in a name. Somehow
the names from my contact are not coming into the email look up. Any
ideas?

The look up in contacts works fine.

Thanks for your help.

What do you see in the "Show Names from the" drop-down at the top right?

Hi Brian

In the Show names from the it says Contacts. I configured it this way
rather than the Global one. Problem is the email addresses show but not
the names so no look up.

Thanks for your help.

Are yuo saying ing that the address book doesn't show the names from your
COntacts folder even though the "Show names from the" drop-down shows
"Contacts"?  Are you sure you're showing the correct Contacts folder?

Post a URL where we can all see the screen shot or attach it to a post.
