In Outlook 2003, the contacts are set to display e-mail addresses. I would
prefer to keep it set to display the name only, as in previous versions of
Outlook. When sending to multiple e-mail addresses, this is a security
nightmare.
According to the experts, changing to display e-mail addresses was requested
with the 2003 version. Some experts are even getting downright rude in
answering this question. But all say there is no way to change the default
display. It's a serious time waster to change my 1000+ contacts one by one.
WHEN WILL THIS BE UPDATED?
It won't be. Most users prefer to have both the familiar name and the email
address included in the Email Display As field, so that's why it is designed
that way. What makes you think it is any kind of security risk?

My position deals with a lot of customer service across 250 sites in North
America. I may want a customer to see that I'm copying a message to an
executive or even the division that handles the problem they are
experiencing. However, I can't give customers access to the e-mails of these
other staff members.

Why do you think the Email Display As field has anything to do with this?
Unless you use the BCC field, your recipients addresses are always exposed.

Before, the e-mail wasn't visible unless the recipient right clicks and views
the properties.

Sorry. I just don't see what the "security risk" is here. Either way, anyone
who wants to know what the email address is can.
