Bought new computer and had a backup disk created from old computerwith my
Outlook contacts on.  My new outlook has expired and cannot buy on line, so
to save hassle of going to the shop today, I started using outlook express
already installed but I can't seem to import my contacts folder from dosk in
here.

What, if anything, am I missing?

Aloha iris-blu,

.PST files.  Unfortunately you need to have Outlook in order to open it.
If you can get Outlook you should be able to export the Contacts into a
format that Outlook Express can read.
