contact catagories

My contact list was sorted by catagories, always was.  Today its not,
although the sort by catagories is checked.  what happened and how do
i fix i??

What happened only you could know. You were there. We weren't.
For that reason, you must also tell us your Outlook version, what you mean
by "contact list" (that term could mean anything), the view you are using,
and what isn't happening that you think should.

ok, im using outlook 2003, and my address book known as "contacts" can
be sorted in many different ways one of which is by "categories".  i
can get it to sort in different views but not by categories.

Not sure where you are, but on this planet the Outlook address book cannot
be sorted by category and never could be. Explain more clearly why you feel
differently.
