Microsoft Outlook/Outlook Express

I just got a new computer and use both Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express
for e-mail, one for me the other for my husband. I'm having trouble
importing the address book. If I import into one program it automatically
imports it into the other. If I delete addresses from one program, they are
deleted from the other. Any suggestions so I can have two completely
separate e-mail programs with separate address books?

These address book are always separate unless you deliberately configure
them otherwise. You have provided no information. State how you configured
them and include your Outlook version.

I didn't do anything to reconfigure them. I just installed Microsoft Office,
version 2000.

Wow. You put an Office version that far out of date and that far out of
support on a new computer? You are probably not using a full version of
Outlook at all but are using a long abandoned simplified version of Outlook
called IMO that actually uses Outlook Express for most of its functions,
including the address book and mail transports. So you need to go into
Outlook Express' address book and disable sharing there in Tools >
Options...

We only started using the computer and a friend gave us their old office
version so we wouldn't have to buy one. We basically only use the computer
for e-mail and limited internet access. Being a beginner, when I click on
tools in the express address book I only have two options -- accounts and
action. If I click tools in express, I get options but can't find the
sharing. Thanks very much for your help.

Then you need to state more accurately your Outlook version. Post what you
see in Help | About. Post everything.
