when I enter in the area code and phone number i want a 1 to be generated
automatically by outlook.  for example, if I enter 2045227892 and then tab to
the next box I would like the number to appear as 1-(204)-522-7892.  This way
my phone will recognize this as a long distance code.

I can get the +1 to appear by checking the "include" country code, but my
phone doesn't recognize this +1 the same as just a 1.  Does this make sense?
Any suggestions?

Masking of phone numbers in Outlook is hard coded and not subject to user
configuration.
