Don't import - just re-use the .pst file.  You don't import Word documents into Word to get it to work - why would you import a native Outlook file into Outlook to get it to work.

Ensure the .pst file has been copied to your hard drive (My documents works well since that is the most backed up location for home users) ensure the Read-Only attribute is unchecked.  Open Outlook and use file->open->outlook data file.  Browse to My Documents and open the file.
