Hi all,

I have a client that used to have her contacts displayed in Outlook 2003 in
a format that I can't seem to replicate automatically (I've just had to
install a new PC for her and restore the .pst file). At the moment all
contacts are displayed as first/last name. If i double click a contact I can
choose 'File As', and then choose first/last name and also company which is
exactly what I need. This is fine but my client has over 1000 contacts and
doesn't want to go through each individual contact and change the 'File As'
selection. Is there any way I can automate this ? Outlook 2003 with SP2 on
Windows XP Pro SP2. Many thanks.

Regards Colin.

Hi,

Cancel that, just found the answer (tools, options, contact options) reading
through an old thread (Brian Tilman's answer sorted me out!).

Regards Colin.

That setting only applies to new Contacts you create, not existing ones.
You'd need to run code to change existing ones.

You can use the Tool "ChangeNames"

http://www.marchert.de/software.html#cn

to change all contacts.

Hi Russ & Peter,

I phoned my client, told her to click Tools, Options, Contact Options and
select last name, first name, company name and she reports back that all is
now well!! However, thanks for the advice and the links. I'll take a closer
look at her PC when I am next on site and implement the required code changes.

Regards Colin.
