the autocomplete cache is not getting saved - make sure outlook is not
running in Task manager when you close it, that will prevent the cache from
getting saved. If it's not running, find and delete the xml file that
contains your autocomplete cache.

Hello Diane Poremsky [MVP],

We use WINXP PRO SP2 and OUTLOOK 2003 SP2 and as server WIN2003 + EXCHANGE
2003 SP2

Most of our users have no problem with the autocomplete.
On every client the Autocomplete is activated and works fine.
On some clients Outlook looses the autocomplete Cash after a PC shutdown.
On these clients Outlook generates the cash every morning from scrap.

NONE of our clients have a .KK2 file in the folder that you mentioned.

What is the solution to our problem?

They must have NK2 files, by defininition. Those are hidden files.
It is common for NK2 files to become corrupt. When that happens, the
autocompletion data from a given session is not written correctly to the
file when Outlook closes (even though the information is still there in the
file).
You have 2 options for those users:
1. Create a new profile from scratch. They will then lose all their
autocompletion data, but will be able to rebuild it as they use
autocompletion.
2. Attempt to repair the NK2 file. The newest version of Ingressor has a
recovery utility that may be able to repair the file (as long as you haven't
tried to access the file with any other program). You can use the recovery
utility for free even if you end up not purchasing the product:

Hello Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook],

I can positively 100% absolutely confirm that at one user there was no .NK2
file, this user lost her automated adresses cash each time she closed outlook.
I deleted here profile and created a new with another name. Result ... automated
adresse works fine and guess what... there was the .NK2 file

There would be no NK2 file only if the user had not enabled autocompletion
or was using an older version of Outlook that did not support it.
