I thought I had solved my problem. I now only have 1 Contacts folder but when I
add contacts to it they don't appear! I searched for *.pst files and found 3
versions of Outlook, 2 in My Documents (both accessed 2/27) and 1 in Local
Settings accessed 2/15 when my attempt to back up Outlook went wrong. I have
obviously screwed things up when I restored Outlook from my
back up. Can anyone help me out of this mess - half the time I can't
understnd what the replies to questions are talking about.

Perhaps, but only if you can provide more clear and accurate information.
This is a newsgroup, not onsite support. We have no idea what you've done or
even what you're trying to convey in your post. At a minimum you must
provide:
1. Outlook version
2. Information store (Exchange Server or local data file)
3. Why you needed to "restore Outlook from backup."
4. How you did so
Any other information on how you managed to create this mess would also be
helpful. Outlook did not do this by itself.
