The icon difference does not matter. It does indicate that many of your
members were actually created in an earlier version of Outlook which is also
why the Update Now button will never work.

Sorry about the double entry. I placed my inquiry in the General section
first and, when I didn't receive a reply, I thought that the Contacts section
might be better.
Thank you for your explanation of my problem. Since the distribution list
is not that long, I am going to recompile/recompose it. Thanks, again.

If both the member Contact Records and the DL are created in the same
Contacts Folder in the same Outlook profile, the "Update Now" button might
actually work. But not for long, I'm afraid. Most of us avoid DL's whenever
possible. They are one of many Outlook features that simply don't work as
they should.
