When I put in a new company, the "File As" field puts what it wants to
sometimes truncating part of the name and will not put it as I would like it.
How can I fix this? It makes it difficult to look up the correct business

We would need to know your Outlook version and the properties you designated
for the File As... field.

Outlook v2003. As far as properties, I don't quite understand but I can give
you an example of what its doing.  When the name of the business is American
General Finance it truncates 'American' and just give me 'General Finance'
or the one I just got this morning 'Anything for the Home' and it gives me
'Home' and theirs nothing I can do to fix it

You're the one that designated the format for the File As... field. Look at
see what you set: Tools > Options > Preferences > Contact Options > Default
"File As" order.
