I'm importing my address book from Outlook Express to Outook contacts. I
say's its imported them - but when I open the contact folder - nothing is
there.  What am I doing wrong?

Well.... sorry - OK, I'm using the import function in Outlook - Import-Export
- Import Intermet mail and addresses - from Outlook Express.... I get a
timeline and message that it has imported X numer of addresses and rules...
but nothing is there when I go to the Outlook Contacts.

What are your versions? How many OE Identities on your partition? When you
examine the root Contacts Folder of the Main Identity in OE what do you see?

Oulook 2003 (11.5608.6360)  OE 6.00 2900.2189.  Not sure on your ohter
questions - as far as I know I have only one  identiy in OE - I think? When I
look at my main identites in OE, I see a list of addresses - is that what you
mean?

Thanks for the help

You should see a list of Contacts, not addresses. Outlook's import Wizard
will only import the root Contacts Folder from the Main Identity. It will
not import subfolders.

Thanks for bearing with me here.

I'm looking in the  Address Bood - Main Identity . There is a folder "Shared
Contacts" and "Main Identiy Contacts"  - in the latter are my contacts.

I am thinking, maybe, that Outlook is importing them OK, or it appears so,
but maybe they're going in the wrong place or Outlook is set to a different
contacts folder or something?

The Outlook Import Wizard will import only those Contacts that reside in
your "Main Identity's Contacts" Folder. It will place them in the default
Contacts Folder of your current Outlook profile. I would suggest using
Folder View in Outlook to examine your entire Folder hierarchy. Perhaps you
are importing these Contacts into a folder other than the one you are
currently viewing. I can think of no other explanation from this distance.

That may be it - when I try to open the address list, I get a message that it
can't open the contacts - that the folder may have been moved or deleted,
etc. I"m thinking that it pointed to the wrong place for the contacts folder,
but I dont know how to change that or find the folder that its looking
into...
