Using Office 2000, if I insert an Outlook Contact into a Word document, it is
saved as an embedded link to the contact info. Is there any way to create a
static copy of the contact data at the time of inserting without having to
copy and paste?

You did not post the steps you are using, nor why Word's Inset Address
function does not work for you.
