I'm trying to use the details in the contacts, but the option to enable: Show
this folder as an e-mail Address Book - is grayed out.

What version of Outlook are you using? In the meantime, see if you add the
Outlook Address Book service to your profile (most likely through the Tools
menu > Accounts dialog)

Thanks for the answer.

I'm using Outlook 2003. What does the OAB has to do with the Contacts folder?
I could not find anything related to the Contacts folder in the options.

The Outlook Address Book service is the thing that exposes the Contacts
folder (and other contact-type folders) as an address book.

If it is your default Contacts folder then that is set by default so it will
be grayed out.
Ensure the Outlook Address Book is added in Tools | Account Settings |
Address Books. Remove it and add it again if it is there.

Check your settings in Tools | Options in the Outlook Address Book. Use Ctrl
+ Shift + B to access it.

Yes, I'm trying to use the information in the default contacts folder, but
what does it have to do with the OAB?

I tried reming and readding OAB but it didn't work. The information I want
to use is not in there but in the Contacts folder.

Thanks.

The OAB is the service that generates the view of the Contacts folder as an
Address Book.
Try with a new profile.

The Outlook Address Book service presents the contents of the Contacts
folder to you via the Address Book interface so you can select recipients.
Five seconds at the Microsoft support site produces this:
