CONTACTS not populating when selecting "TO" in New messages

I have been using Outlook now for 5-6 years....
All of my contacts are set up into groups Family, business ,
Contractors...etc.
PROBLEM:
When I am in th inbox and select new message I am used to selecting "To"
button to select my contacts. This no longer gives me acces to the "sub
Groups " I have created.
I recently migrated from OUTLOOK 2000 SP3 to OUTLOOK 2003
Now in Outlook 2003 I have 10 different contact groups, not distribution
lists. but when I want to add contacts to a message, only the CONTACTS group
[1/10 groups] shows up?

When I select the drop down "Show Names From the :" option, my groups are
not displayed and there are no entries in the Outloook Address Book option?
QUESTION:
How do I make all my other contact groups  'sub catagories' of the CONTACTS
Default?

I am pretty sure this is a configuration option that did not get set right
when I imptrted my PST from 2000 to 2003.
Any takers?

Importing is never the correct way to transfer Outlook data. State more
clearly what you did.
We have no idea what you might mean by "groups," let alone "Sub-groups."
Neither term is used in Outlook's context.
Clarify your post please.

I think he means Categories and Departments (or some other field you can
Group by secondarily).

That's my point. It's anyone's guess what he means, and we can't just guess
here.

I think he means subfolders...  in which case, he needs to enable them as
address books.

Hi Diane,
I found the answer...thank youfor the reply anyway.  I just did not know
where to enable them as Address Books.   It sounds like you are the only
reader who followed the procedure I took to create the 'Subfolders', sorry
for my improper terminology in the original post.

For future users, the following procedure may be helpful.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
When you initiate OUTLOOK, contacts creates a contacts in the contacts tool
bar.
if you highlight it and right click and create'new folder'  for example 'ABC
Co'
it used to create a sub directori/subfolder under/inside 'Contacts'.
So when you were in outlook2000 'MAIL'/ 'new message' and selected 'TO'
button, you could select recipents from the Contacts OR ABCco subfolders.

NOW in Outlook 2003, when I imported the PST file into outlook, it created
10 'subfolders' but now when I select the "TO' button in 'NEW MESSAGE' only
the 'Contacts' is shown not the subfolders...
I know this is a configuration issue but I do not know where or what?

I HAVE FOUND THE SOLUTION!!!!:
ANSWER:
If I right click on a subfolder and go to Properties, there is a 'TAB'
Outlook Address Book. The 'Show this folder as an e-mail address book' option
is unchecked.
IF I ENABLE the 'checkbox', select 'apply', it works....
I guess the imported .PST does not know how to treat the Additional address
books when importing to 2003 or newer outlook options?

Thanks again
Daniel Conn
