I have no idea how to transfer Outlook which is on my XP PC at the moment to
my new PC which is Vista AND which I do not have Outlook on. I only have the
basic Windows Mail 2007. Will they be compatible? Also, how can I back up
this data? How do I save Outlook/Windows Mail on a CD?

You're asking a Windows Mail question in an Outlook group. Windows Mail
cannot utilize any of Outlook's files. You need to figure out what file
formats Windows Mail can import, then export your Outlook contacts to one of
those formats. CSV will probably work best.
