I am looking for a way to get my outlook categories that I had in 2003 to go
into 2007 I upgraded from 2003 I tried importing the master list from my
outlook 2003 registry entry but I get nothing.

Try right click on the top folder, Properties, Update to Color Categories.
That should add all of the categories found in that *.pst file to your
Masterlist of Categories.

I am trying to do this on a public address book that is shared through out my
company I do not see where it says update to color categories

If that command isn't available in the folder properties dialog then you
could copy all of the contacts into a Contacts folder of your local *.pst
file. For the pst file the command is available - but it doesn't work always
properly.

Another approach is to use Category Manager (link in my signature), which
allows importing/exporting between OL03 and OL07.

Yes, that's what I experienced, too. Sometimes upgrading categories works
and sometimes it doesn't.

Ok so how would I use the category manager to get those categories back?
would I install it on a user who has the categories working in 2k3 or 2k7
then export to the user who needs the categories in 2k7?

Michael Bauer [MVP - Outlook] - 05 Oct 2007 06:13 GMT
That doesn't matter. You can either export from OL03 or from OL07. Then
import on OL07.
