It's not a macro but I know a way that's fairly fast - it depends a bit on
how many a large number is!
Turn on the Advanced Toolbar.
Go to the Contacts Folder.
Change to By Company View. The Current View window will enable you to do
that.
Turn on the Field Chooser (2 buttons to the right of the Current View
Window)
Find the Notes field on the Field Chooser and drag it up to sit beside the
other fields you are already showing eg Company.
Write the note you want and crtl paste it in to the Notes field for each
entry.
You may need to turn on in line editing (located at Customise Current View -
there's a check box)

Please keep posts in the newsgroup so all readers can benefit.
Your problem is that you have not turned on inline editing. I suggested that
you would probably have to do so to be able to paste into the Notes field.
