JEP - Rules and Alerts

I have used Rules and Alerts very successfully.  Recently when I went to edit
one of the rules, I clicked on the FROM PEOPLE OR DISTRIBUTION LIST and it
does not bring up my Contacts but gives a message that the address file has
been moved or deleted.  I don't remeber doing either but I suppose I might
have, more likely deleted it when I saw 2 Contact folders in the Navigation
Pane.  In the past when I clicked on FROM PEOPLE OR DISTRIBUTION LIST it
brought up a Contacts Pane with all my Contact's email addresses.  Also, I
should mention, that my Contacts are still readily avaiable in the regular
Outlook program.  Anyway to get this message to leave so I can add new email
addresses to already created Rules?  Thanks pre-emptively for your help.

You have a bogus contacts folder configured in your Outlook Address Book
service.  Close Outlook and use the Mail applet in Control Panel to correct
the problem.  Exactly how, though, is version-specific and you decided your
Outlook version was unimportant enough to mention.

That would be XP.  And after going to Control Panel/Mail, if that is correct,
there is buttons for E-mail Accounts - Data Files - Show Profiles.  Pardon if
I have not been correct to this point, and thanks!

Outlook 2002, then.

If you have only one profile, click E-mail Accounts.  If you have more than
one profile, click Show Profiles, select your profile and click Properties,
then cluick E-mail Accounts.  Select the radio button labeled "View or
change existing directories or address books" (the bottom one) and click
Next.  Select the Outlook Address Book service and click Change.  Remove the
bogus entry there.  You will have to stop and restart Outlook for the change
to take effect.

Thanks for your patience and success here!  It was mildly frightening to
delete since the 2 Contact Address entires were identical and I feared
deleteing the wrong one.  But having proceeded and restarting Outlook it has
corrected.  Again, many thanks!
