Hello,

I have a very strange issue on Outlook 2K3 on a mex2K3 server.  One client
is seing his contacts doubling or copying on their own.  Example : One
contact named "My friend" is into the contacts folder and is not private.
After closing Outlook and re-opening this one, I can find another contact (a
second one) named "My friend" but this one is a private contact.

The duplication of contacts do not appear each and every time we turn off
and turn on Outlook but it appears often. And even if we delete the private
contact, after a while, another copy will back into the Contacts folder, with
the private attribute.

I've tried to do a repair on Outlook and renaming the Outlook folder in the
registry.  I didn't had the chance to play with the user's Outlook but I want
to know if someone already seen something like that ?

Any help will be greately appreciated !

First we need to establish that you do have multiple copies of Contacts
versus Outlook making it look that way.  It does that quite well :)

Open one of the duplicate and write something in the Notes field.  Save and
Close. Then go open the other duplicate.  Is the Note there?

Hello Judy,

Thank you very much for your help.  I have tried several contacts that we're
doubled and it didn't copy the comment I added into the private contact into
the public contact.

But I realize that the form used to show the contact is different for the
public and private contact.  We are working with a third party contact
manager software but I didn't use it at all for this user because of this
issue.  Contacts are still doubling while using only Outlook.

Thanks again !

You are nowing mentioning Public Contacts and a Contact Manager programme.
I think you'll find that your issue is NOT with Outlook but with the add-in.

And no, I'm not trying to fob you off!
