Hello,

I used the Vista migration wizard to move a user from a WinXP Pro computer
to a new Vista computer, including email settings and files.

Office 2007 was already installed on the Vista machine but I did not take
any steps to set Outlook up thinking that the migration wizard would do all
of the work for me.

When the wizard completed moving files and settings (and I have to say that
it did a fine job), my attempts to set the contact folder up as the Outlook
address book are failing.

If I go into the properties of the Contacts folder in Outlook 2007 I find
that the checkbox to make it an Outlook Address book is grayed out. No way to
click it on.

I tried to follow the instructions in MS Knowledebase article 287563 and the
Outlook Address Book is listed so the instructions say to go to the
properties of it in Outlook and check the box but as I said, that checkbox is
grayed out.

If anyone knows how to resolve this I would greatly appreciate hearing from
you. My end user is getting upset that she cannot use the contacts to send
email.

Thanks you, Herb

Already posted here many times. You cannot and should not use Vista's WET
with Outlook. It does not work. The profile it creates is corrupt and will
not allow you to configure the Outlook Address Book. Create a new profile
from scratch. Configure your accounts manually. Migrate your data using the
supported method: open your previous data file in Outlook, then either set
it as your new default or copy what you want from it into a new default PST
file.

This solution may have been posted several times, but as someone who has
easily spent several hours trying to resolve this (searching Microsoft site,
searching forums, writing to tech support, etc.) I really don't understand
the instructions below. How do I create a new profile from scratch? How do I
configure accounts manually? How do I migrate my data? Those of us who do not
know all of these terms and just want to solve the problem, is there a
step-by-step place that shows how to resolve this issue? How would I have
known in advance that this migration would not have worked? I just got a new
computer and just wanted to migrate my contacts from my old Outlook 2003 to
this new version of Outlook on my new computer - everything else seems to
have worked as expected.

Thank you for your patience in responding to me.
