importing contacts list from excel into outlook contacts

I have read some of your forums relating to this subject, unfortunately so
far I have failed to find anything that resembles a simple transfer.?
I have contacts saved on my C\: drive and my jump drive F\: in both .xls and
.vcf card formats, can somebody advise me on what surely cannot be to a
difficult task...?

What could be more simple than File-Import from Excel in Outlook? (Tip -
name the range on your Excel workbook first...)
