How do I set a distribtion list which keeps the names hidden?

I wish to set up a distribution list but do not wish to publish the names of
all the people in the group to respect their privacy. I can set the
distribution list up ok bu when I send it all the recipients address's can be
seen

That's not a property of a DL. It's a property of the mail message. You put
the DL in the BCC field to hide recipients.
