Oh, ick. There's the problem. Your data file is corrupt. Relying on sync
software to maintain your data is unwise. I trust you back up your data
frequently?

I do do frequent backups Russ, but the computer on which I have the problem
does not get its contact data via sync. It contains the master data file and
this is synced to the the phone and then synced to my notebook from the
phone. The only file the phone changes is the notebook and that computer
doesn't suffer experience the problem.

It is the "master data file" the is most in need to a good backup scheme. I
make a daily copy of my PST to external storage because it's important
enough to me I want to make sure I'll never lose it.

I'm not sure I would agree with your assumption that the "only file the
phone changes" is the notebook. That's placing far more confidence in your
sync software than it deserves. You might have a better explanation for what
has corrupted your data file, but from where I sit, sync software is the
number one suspect. Anyone who is running syncs against their file should be
backing that file up daily.
Have you tried repairing your file?

I really appreciate all the suggestions, but I'm not certain if I understand
the data file being the prime suspect. The reason I say this is because of
what I responded earlier. I created an entirely new profile which contained
no contact or address book entries and it still crashed when trying to access
the contacts. Regarding repairing the file, the only repair tool I find from
Microsoft is to repair a pst file and not a bcm file. In the case of the new
profile I created I made the one test entry into the Business Contact Manager
and this populated the address book. As I said earlier I do make regular
backups of the Business Contact Manager, but I have not tried using the
backed file since the new profile didn't didn't solve the problem and it was
a new pst and bcm and still crashed.

How nice of you finally to tell us you were using BCM and not Outlook. Did
you think we were mind readers? Post in a BCM group.
