Distribution list doesn't send to new contacts

I created a distribution list sometime ago.  All the icons to the left of
the names on the original list appear as rolodex cards.  The problem is when
I try to add new names now.  They get added in the list, but the icon appears
as a rolodex card with a cartoon head on it.  The people who have these icons
do not receive the emails I send out to the distribution list.  I’ve tried
deleting them and adding them again via the select members tab.  Nothing
seems to work.  Any thoughts?

the ones with the head are copied from contacts. check the contacts and see
if the address is resolved and works
