Does anybody know why?  Outlook 2007 with OS XP no problem, but with my newly
bought Vista machine, I could not search with contacts.

Thank you very much.

No. Can you provide any information on your Indexing Status and its
settings? You provided no troubleshooting information.

Hi Russ,
Indexing Status
Search results may be incomplete because items are still being indexed.
91 items remainng in "Personal Folders"
91 items remaining across all open mailboxes.

That was what it said.  Just now I have updated to Office Service Pack 1,
still could not search.  I have tried to uninstall the Office and reinstall
again, but did not solve the problem.  Just don't know why.  Thank you for
any help.

No wonder. Sounds like you're overdue to rebuild your index.

Hi Russ,
Thank you for your advise but after follow the instruction on fixing instant
search from your link.  Rebuild entire index and status to 0 and the instant
search still does not work.  Would my Office 2007 Professional Plus not
competible with Windows Vista?  Would my search function not working?   Any
my other machine using XP work fine with search on the outlook.pst file.
Please advise.

Thank you in advance.

Assuming you have tried every troubleshooting suggestion on that site, I
have no other suggestions. Feature has always worked fine for me and has
seemed to work fine for everyone who has successfully rebuilt their index.
It actually works better on Vista than on XP.

I have the same problem, but not only do searches of Contacts fail, so do
searchs of most other folders including Advanced Find searches. I given the
index services weeks to complete its indexing. I need carefully go thru your
suggestions, but skimming they are all things that I have previous tried on
my on.

I am having the exact same issue. i can find them in the address book
search bu not in search contacts. even though i can manually find teh
exact name there, it can't find it in the search bar. the installation
has been fully indexed as well.

The only way I could get search to work was by disabling Instant Search.
However, to me, that is not an acceptable solution.

I am not sure that my problem’s the same. I use Outlook 2007 under Vista.
My contacts are in different sub-folders (all under contacts – say, contacts
1, contacts 2, …). When I search using the “search box” in the standard
toolbar, I find them all, but when I use “advanced find” I can only find
what’s in contacts, but not the contacts in the sub-folders. In the previous
version (2003 under XP) I was able to find all contacts via “advanced find”
including the ones in the sub-folders.
Thanks in advance,
Ronie.

my problem may be the same as yours.

my new comp with vista was working fine for about a couple of weeks.  all of
a sudden, when i search for what I know is in my contacts, it does not
retrieve, dont know why.
