Hi,
I just got a Windows Vista system and have followed the steps to txfr my
contacts from Yahoo Mail to Outlook. However, at the last step, importing the
file, I have run into a roadblock. The Import/Export option under File is
grayed out. I can't select it.

Any idea what I might have done wrong? Something in the setup where I
clicked something that deactivated the import/export option?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Did you install Outlook's Importers and Exporters from the Office CD?

Hi Russ,
Thanks for the response. No, I didn't install Outlook's Importers and
Exporters from the Office CD. I had assumed that everything I needed was
already pre-installed on the PC. I'll search for the CD and give that a try.
Thanks for the suggestion!

I put in my Office 2007 CD and clicked on each icon, including the Outlook
icon. Under the Outlook icon, four icons came up: "OutlkLR," "OutlookMUI" and
two text files, "OutlookMUI" and "setup."

I don't see anything like Import and Export.

If you can provide me any more guidance on where that file might be, I'd
really appreciate it.

State what you did more clearly. That doesn't sound anything at all like the
Office Maintenance Wizard.

Sure. First of all, my Windows-Vista PC came pre-loaded with Office 2007, so
I didn't do any installing on my own, just typing in the Microsoft codes to
get started.

After reading your first email, I inserted my Office 2007 CD and searched
for Outlook's Importers and Exporters, but as I mentioned below, didn't see
anything close to that.  I also tried doing some internet searches, but found
nothing helpful there.

In your recent email, you mentioned an "Office Maintenance Wizard." I went
through the Outlook menus, but don't see any wizards. Also, I did more
internet searching, but didn't see anything.

By the way, except for the fact that I can't import my contacts, Outlook is
working well. I can send and receive mail. Just can't seem to find a way to
activate that import/export option under "File."

If the Office CD does not auto run the Maintenance Wizard, just run it
yourself from Control Panel. That's the only way you can find and install
Office features.

In Add or Remove Programs, select "Microsoft Office" and click Change.  You
should get an option to add or remove features.
