Maybe I"m just piling on, but I'm having a terrible time with this same
problem. I was showing two contacts lists in my address book, one empty and
one with my contacts ni it. The default was empty so every time I "echecked
names" it came up blank unless I told it to look in the second list.
So, reading other posts I first tried deleting one of the contacts lists. No
affect. There were still two. So another post said to delete the Address Book
and recrate a a new one. I did and now I can't "enable your Contacts Folder
as an email address book". It's grayed out. How can I create a new address
book?

You did something incorrectly. We have no idea what. The instructions posted
here are correct and do work. Try them again. Or at the very least post an
accurate and complete description of what you did so we can tell you what
you did wrong.

Thanks Russ. I solved the problem. Another MVP informed me that I was
probably using a "Personal" address book, which is outdated and not used,
rather than an Outlook Address Book. In fact, that was correct. So I deleted
the PAB and created an OAB and it works fine now.
Cheers.
