I am using outlook 2000. I have a custom contact form I have made for
tracking my specific sales.  I would like to import from excel a customer
list and have it populated into the contact form I use.  I have already set
the contact form in preferences.  If I just click the new contact I get the
form I want.  However when I import I do not get the custom contact form.  I
have tried setting up a new contact list and importing the excel file to that
contact list first then moving the list to my master contacts.  I do not get
the custom contact form as an an option in the preferences list of the new
contact form folder.  I am familiar with the option of updating an entire
contact folder with a custom form using the Omsglaclas.exe utility and
changing the ipm.  Is there an easier way to accomplish this and or has
another version of outlook taken care of this?

You can't import into a custom form without code.  See this:

The Outlook import wizard (any version of Outlook) does not do 2 things:
     1) set the message class based on the default set for the folder
     2) let you import data to any custom fields that you may have

Ergo, if you're going to use the current process, you will always have to
use a utility such as Omsgclas.exe or any number of free alternatives such
as:
        ContactGenie Msg Class Modifier -
http://www.contactgenie.com/cgtmcm.htm or
        DocMsgClass -
http://www.publicshareware.com/public-share-outlook-utilities.php

That said, if you're going to import on a regular basis, you may find one of
our import products of interest which support custom forms/fields:
