You would never transfer Outlook data in this fashion. There is no need to
export or import, especially thorough a non-native file type.
Copy your Outlook data file and open it in the other installation.

Thanks Russ will remember for the future - is the method that you're
suggesting done using PSTs?
Unfortunately, I needed to transfer the contacts as I was moving companies..
I don't have access to the original PC and now have the contacts in an Excel
file. It imported every other field without an issue but is omitting the
email address fields for some reason.
Any ideas to save me inputting them all by hand?

Yes. PST is Outlook's native format for a data file.
You should still be able to import from Excel. List the steps you used. Make
sure you use a named range in Excel and have mapped your fields correctly.
The email addresses should populate correctly. The only thing that often
goes wrong is that the addresses will not resolve, so will not appear in the
address book view until you open and save each Contact Record. A third party
utility may be able to help you with Outlook's shortcomings:

When mapping the email address - what email fields are you using for the map
on the Outlook side of things?
More to the point, the email address field in your Excel worksheet which
should contain only name@domain.com should be specifically mapped to one of
the following on the Outlook side "Email Address", "Email 2 Address", or
"Email 3 Address". If you map to either Email, Email 1, or Email 3 - you may
end up with an invalid value in the "Email Type" field causing the problem
you describe. Under normal circumstances, there is no need to map the Email
Type field when importing.

I just wanted to thank you for this post, Karl. It solved the problem I was
having with importing from Excel. You saved me a TON of time and allowed me
to keep the hair on my head!!
