Its seems there is somthing going on with my .NK2 file. When I email a
contact initial he doesn;t appear then I go to my contact list add him to the
To: field and compose and e-mail my message. The next day I start tyoping his
name and his name doesn;t appear. can anyone shed some light on this?

The NK2 file (the autocompletion cache) is COMPLETELY UNRELATED to your
Contacts.  The NK2 file remembers addresses to which you've sent mail
regardless of whether or not they're in your Contacts folder.

Brian thanks for your reply. This is exactly what im talking about: Even if I
send mail to a person e-mail the next time i try and e-mail him and type his
name into the To box: its doesn't show up. For example i try it this morning
e-mailing a contact sent the message and 30 minutes later I went to send him
another e-mail (i did not respond to his) and his name didn't auto complete
in the to box:

Any ideas?

The autocompletion process can break.  The usual fix is a new mail profile.
After creating the new profile, rename the NK2 file to match the name of the
new profile and it should work again.

Is there any other way?

None that I've seen.  Why are you averse to a new mail profile?
