Assign categories to your contacts. Then, in Activesync, use the Settings
button with Contacts highlighted to select which categories to synch.

I did think of that, but the settings button is not available to be with
contacts, only e mail, calender, notes and favorites.

Yes it is. Open ActiveSync on your PC. Click Options. Select Contacts.
Click Settings. Select the radio button labeled "Synchronize only those
contacts in the following selected categories". Click OK, then OK.
