After purchasing Outlook 2003, I can't perform the mail
merge function without the following error message coming
up: "To use this feature you must install the version
on MS Word that matches the installed version of MS
Outlook"

I'm running Office 2000 Pro, so it wouldn't seem like I
would have to do anything special with it. I've run the
repair tool on my Office 2000, but that didn't work.

Ummm... what made you think Word 2000 matches Outlook 2003? Believe the
error message. It was telling the truth.
