Problem: Outlook Express will not import an address book
saved on a backup CD.

Circumstances leading to the problem:  I updated Windows
ME to XP Home.  Before doing this files were saved to a
CD.  The CD contains a file named Outlook.  When I try to
open the file a warning that changes or editing may do
damage to my system appears.  The descriptor on the file
says "Office Data File (.pst.)"

When I open Outlook Express and select Import, Address
Book the screen displays five folders on the CD.  It does
not display the file named Outlook mentioned above.

You've got your programs confused. OE does not use PST's. Outlook does.
This is a group to support Outlook from the Office group of programs.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and is a quite different
program despite its similar name..

You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post this to an
outlook express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x

A good website for information on OE is:
