I'm using OL 2002, and I'm trying to get the names in the
Select Names dialog (when you click the "To: button on an
email form.) channging the the "File As" setting in
contacts appears to have no affect. Any Ideas?

Please restate what you're trying to do. I can't make sense out of this.

I think I knwo what is being asked.  I have the same
problem.  When you pull up a new message to send, and
click on the "To" button to select all the people you
want to send it to, do the names appear with the first
name first?  I want it to come up with the last name
first, same as my contacts list.  It seems that the only
way to do this is to put the first name in the last name
box and the last name in the first name box with the
contact open.  How can I make the "To" list sort by last
name?

Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book > Change. > Set your sort order there
