I am running Microsoft Outlook 2000.  I just mistakenly deleted all o
my contacts and restored the last backup of my outlook.pst file.

I have read through the posts regarding groups not carrying over afte
an import/export.  In Outlook 2000 it appears that I can create both
distribution list (in the contacts folder) AND a group (in the addres
book).  It seems no matter which way I create it, they appear the sam
in both the contacts and address book.  Which one should I use and ho
does it make a difference?  Why does the product offer two options i
only one transfers?  What the heck is the difference?

These groups were created in Microsoft Outlook, why wouldn't the
transfer from a backup?  Many groups transferred (but some were lef
out) and they all contained a few or zero entries.. any explanation fo
this behavior?

Thanks!

You failed to post your mail support mode. Line 2 of Help | About if you
don't know.

Groups in the Address Book are never the right thing to use. They exist only
in the Windows Address Book (which is what Internet Mail Only mode uses).
Only use Distribution Lists in the Contacts Folders if you want any chance
of the data persisting.

Sorry.

It says Internet Mail Only.  Should I change this t
Corporate/Workgroup?

So if records were created in IMO mode in the WAB, what file woul
those contacts be in, besides outlooks.pst?

Thanks
Stev

They aren't anywhere. They are just dynamic groupings of the Contact Records
that appear in the Windows Address Book view but will not persist when you
export or copy your PST file.
