i have lost my contacts from outlook, i have a backup of my hard drive but am unable to find the file that the contacts is saved in. can anyone help? Search for *.pst files. Not sure I understand your question. Are you having trouble finding the correct PST file or not? Do you mean you want to overwrite one PST file with another? Not a good idea. If you want Outlook to use a different PST file, configure Outlook to do so. The file you need to back up is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.
